Emmanuel Rugamba is an entrepreneur, author, public speaker, and sports executive whose work sits at the intersection of athletics, business, leadership, and social impact.

Born in a refugee camp in Zambia and raised in the United States, Emmanuel went on to become the first Rwandan to sign an NFL contract, joining the Cleveland Browns in 2021. He later continued his professional career in the Canadian Football League, earning West Division All-Star honors. His football journey also included winning the 2019 MAC Championship Defensive MVP award at Miami University.

Today, Emmanuel serves as Chief Business Officer & Partner at Next Professional Athlete (NPA), a global organization focused on creating greater visibility, access, and opportunity for athletes around the world. His broader work includes strategic partnerships, athlete development, entrepreneurship, real estate, and initiatives designed to create social and economic opportunities through sport.

As the author of NEXT PLAY, Emmanuel challenges athletes and young people to think beyond competition—examining the identity, relationships, skills, and opportunities sports can build long after the scoreboard turns off.

Over the past six years, he has spoken at more than 125 schools, universities, and organizations across North America, sharing his experiences around resilience, identity, leadership, belonging, and life beyond athletics.

Emmanuel is also passionate about the continued growth of flag football in Rwanda and across Africa, using sport as a vehicle for international connection, youth development, and economic opportunity.

Whether working with athletes, educational institutions, businesses, or global organizations, Emmanuel's focus remains the same: helping people recognize what their experiences have equipped them to build next.
